SYA are the largest supplier and supporter of youth work in Shropshire and Telford and the new building will provide them with high quality accommodation to replace their dilapidated old premises.
PSG were appointed by SYA to act as their designers and agent for the project in early 2023. Following a tender process local contractor R1 Construction Ltd were awarded the contract to carry out detail design and construction. A project team was established to oversee the design development and all parties quickly got to work to deliver the modern, energy efficient building SYA wanted. The final design uses highly insulated SIPS panels, triple glazed windows, air source heating/cooling, and a heat recovery ventilation system. Furthermore when subjected to an air test the building achieved an exceptionally high result of 0.7m3(h.m2)@50Pa which is a credit to the efforts of the R1 team and represents the approach needed for sustainable building design in the future.
The new building is a huge improvement and the SYA are proud to have a new base where they can continue their work to positively change the lives of young people.
