The school required additional class spaces for the English/Maths curriculum. The existing 10no. bay timber frame demountable building was extended with two new classrooms to facilitate the teaching requirement – each classroom being added to each gable end of the existing building. Due to the difficult location of the building and subsequent developments this proved a logistical challenge.
The new classrooms are of timber frame construction to match the existing demountable building but with new building improvements to meet current Building Control requirements and also items such as suspended ceilings, LED lighting to provide a modern environment for teaching.
In addition to the extensions the existing building was also partially refurbished internally and externally to provide a quality teaching facility that will last for many years.
Civil grounds works were also carried out to improve circulation around the site for pupils.
