Kinlet Primary School is a small school located in rural south Shropshire, based around an old stone-built Victorian schoolhouse. Various extensions have been built over the years to increase classroom space, but staff facilities had unfortunately not kept up. Office space was very restricted and provisions for visitors was very poor.
The school had planned to make improvements for some years. Finally in 2016, in a project joint funded by the school and Learning and Skills, building works were approved to bring the school up to date.
PSG were appointed as designers for the project. In conjunction with the school, proposals were developed to design an extension to provide much needed extra facilities:
- Secure lobby
- Visitor waiting area
- New reception office
- Head teachers office and meeting room
- Enlarged staff room
- Disabled WC
- Fully accessible disabled entrance
- Defined visitor access routes
- Improved segregation of play areas
The works were carried out during the summer of 2016 by Telford based building contractors Blue Square Building Ltd. The Head Teacher and staff at the school are thrilled by the difference the extension has made and PSG are proud of our involvement in the project.
