Located on the Bishops Castle Community College site, the building provides additional classroom accommodation and space for sixth-form students to use as a social area.
Constructed from timber frame, the building is highly insulated with proprietary 'Warmcel' recycled newsprint. External cladding is from local sourced timber and natural lime renders. The roof is constructed from recyclable aluminium. The building is arranged and oriented to maximise natural light and ventilation, and features an airsource heat pump, Photovoltaic and solar-thermal heating. Internally, the main spaces are divided by a feature wall constructed from locally sourced recycled bricks, providing a massive thermal store.
The building is intended to be repeated to create a series of linked structures.
