From February to April 2017 PSG carried out an infill extension of the Courtyard at Pontesbury Primary School. The Courtyard was an unused and unloved area of the school therefore it was an ideal place to provide much needed accommodation for the school.
A PVCu lean-to area and the external wall to the small library were demolished and the old paving slabs lifted. New foundations were laid and columns to support the new roof structure were installed. As the courtyard was central to the school four large roof lights were incorporated into the scheme which flood the room with natural light.
The completed scheme provides the school with a multi-functional space which is used for food technology lessons, an area for small group work and has increased the library provision significantly. The old external glazed wall to the school hall was removed and replaced with a fully moveable partition wall which allows the room to be fully opened up to provide additional hall space for school productions or special lunchtime events.
The majority of this scheme was carried out during term time therefore we would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and pupils of Pontesbury Primary School for accommodating the works.
