Greenacres Rural Unit solar PV

We are working with Assets and Estates Sustainability colleagues to deliver a project installing Solar PV at Greenacres Rural Unit, Walford Heath near Baschurch.  Grant funding for the project has been secured through the ‘Sustainable Energy in Public Buildings’ stream.  The installation will provide an estimated 46,660Kilowatt hours energy per year with an associated reduction in Carbon Dioxide emissions of 28,000 kg per year.  Panels are being installed to an area of land to the south of the site which will continue to be used by grazing animals after the installation.

It is a busy time at Greenacres Farm as work continues by PSG on refurbishment of the existing shower block and the construction of a day opportunities building including a commercial kitchen and canteen area.  The shower block will be completed later this month and the Canteen block later in the Spring.

The 16-acre smallholding is run by Shropshire Council’s adult social care team and supports approximately 30 adults each week to access purposeful, outcome-focused activity.
