Work has been completed on a ground mounted Solar PV installation at Greenacres Rural Unit, Walford Heath near Baschurch. The installation provides an estimated 46,660Kilowatt hours energy per year with an associated reduction in Carbon Dioxide emissions of 28,000 kg per year. The energy created powers the buildings and machinery on site with the excess exported back into the electricity grid. Grant funding for the project was secured through the ‘Sustainable Energy in Public Buildings’ stream.
The 16-acre smallholding is run by Shropshire Council’s adult social care team and supports approximately 30 adults each week to access purposeful, outcome-focused activity.
