The School Placed Planning programme focuses on areas of Shropshire that are facing a forecast growth in pupil numbers in the next few years, primarily due to the increased number of housing developments, which are leading to additional children requiring school places. On 7th November 2018 Cabinet approved the scheme to be funded primarily by the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Regulation 123 List and supported by Section 106 funding and basic need capital grant.
Property Services Group are working on behalf of Learning and Skills to design, procure and deliver a number of projects in the School Place Planning Programme.
Following successful completion of the initial project in the programme at Shifnal Primary School in 2018, a further eight projects are planned for completion in 2019 at Shifnal St Andrews, Baschurch CE Primar, Market Drayton Junior, Market Drayton Infants, Whitchurch CE Infants, Meole Brace CE Primary, Mereside CE Primary and Hadnall CE Primary Schools. Further projects are planned for delivery in 2020.
Work has now started on site at Baschurch Primary School to provide an additional classroom at the front of the School Building. With the School being in a conservation area, careful consideration has been given in the design to match the existing school style and detailing. Work is scheduled for completion in June 2019.
